A significant demonstration unfolded in Lucknow as contract workers of the Chief Minister’s Helpline 1076 voiced their frustrations over low wages and unmet promises regarding pay. According to the workers, they were led to believe they would receive a monthly salary of ₹15,000, but have been paid only ₹7,000–₹8,000, leaving them financially strained.
The rally commenced at around 9:30 AM when workers assembled at Cyber Tower in Vibhuti Khand, raising slogans and attempting to proceed toward the Chief Minister’s office. Police efforts to halt the crowd at various points, including near Lohia Park, resulted in heightened tensions. Some footage from the scene showed police using force to control the advancing workers.
Additionally, many employees complained that their salaries were delayed for multiple months. Some also contended that workplace rules prevented them from communicating with their families during office hours, adding to their dissatisfaction.
Authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining public order and mentioned that further talks were anticipated to peacefully address the workers’ demands and work toward a solution.
